The role of biomedical technologies is growing exponentially. The number of inter-disciplinary mergers is higher today than ever before. A burning example is the field of "Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society", the leading IEEE organization. Home health care diagnosis is becoming the wave of the future. The number of diseases is on the rise globally. The number of inventions has increased many fold (reaching 7 million). NIH funding has increased many fold. The small biotech industries are creating more innovation than ever. With all this happening, the state of Colorado needs a strong infrastructure in this field. The University of Colorado and the state has the capability to generate outstanding engineers and smart medical doctors.
With the global health care issues right in front of us, and the ability of the State of Colorado to generate sharper minds, we just need more appreciation to build a biotechnology world in itself for the state of Colorado. In an attempt to appreciate the inter-disciplinary nature of this field, EMBS, an organization of IEEE, has recently kicked in the local chapter for the state of Colorado and heartily welcomes you to explore and join our society. No matter at what level you are, it will provide a launch pad for a successful career to the greatest opportunities around you - "Biomedical Engineering". - Message from past Chair, Dr. Jasjit Suri
